I don't think mine is sc related, my disk starts thrashing and the computer locks up for about 5 minutes.

It comes and goes, I need to do a reinstall I think.

Best to just give them a go really, playing in your opponents shoes is really eye opening, used to do regular sessions of just playing as the faction I was having trouble with in the good old WC3 days.

I think there's a few custom games which are basically aimed around unit counters etc also.

Well, sounds like you raped him straight up to be honest.
While Thors are very powerful, the counter to them is not Mutalisks ^^

He should have tried some lings, their a basic T1 unit and rip thors to bits. he's just a bad loser!

Terran are a tough race to beat but its doable by any other race! each has their own perks as well as weaknesses.

Can we see the replay? :) be interested to see the ragge!
 
Skill, just play as the other races. It's the best way to highlight the weaknesses and strengths of each race so you can take advantage.

Indie, every since watching your replays with kar I've switched to zerg. So much more difficult, damn you :( Out of interest what do you think is the best counter for thors? They're causing me some problems. I see you suggest lings but what if those thors are backed up by MM?

Zerg

Spire - Thors/marines as primary. have Hellions as backup because they will have a lot of lings in the mix too.

Baneling Nest - Early game, dont pump many Marines. if you have 2 depots in your wall, get some marauders and block your ramp with them. Then just tech up to standard mech. Late game, you shouldn't have much problem, banelings do nothing to mech units really.

Roach Warren - Marauders rip through these guys with great ease!

Hydras - go for heavy marines with upgrades, and mix in a few tanks.

Nydus - Get 2-3 marines patrolling in key areas of your bases.

Protoss

Robo - means their going immortals, go slightly more Marine heavy as they tear up Marauders - Ghosts EMP is amazing against them.

Stargate - they will no doubt be getting Void rays, counter with Vikings and Marauders, as they will be quite heavy on zealots with gas being used on VR.
again.. Ghost EMP

Archives - go for Ghost EMP, target templars ASAP. and micro well with all your units

Main thing to remember is don't go too heavy on mech, most protoss units will rip them up, so its more bio you want. MMM ball is quite standard with Ghosts EMP.

Terran is really tough, because they really mix their army up so its difficult.
There isnt a straight counter to Thors with MM really.

things to remember is, don't every attack head on. always surround!, i find that Burrowed Roaches are very useful vs Thor MM, mixed with a lot of lings.

thors will always stand at the back, so roaches will take them out, and the MM will be surrounded.

In ZvT, you'll need to abuse Zergs mobility to the max, look for when they move and where they move, when they move out, Nydus their base. Use muta to hit another part of the base. keep the Terran army moving around the map while you take an expand, Get them defending and the game is yours. Ultralisks will rip all things mech, but they take a while to get too, and will need support.

Yeah I've seen that price in many places, apart from digitally from blizzard at £45, to which I nearly fell out of my seat lol

lol same, hmm lets pay £45 a digital copy... orrr i can buy the £35 retail copy and get some guest passes, and a fantastic box too :D

surely it costs them more to make the boxes!? *facepalm*
 
Thanks guys. Think i'll play some games vs AI as the other factions. Dont fancy adding even more losses to my record playing ranked as them :p

Just won 2 in a row first the guy rushed me with lings i think, followed advice and got a couple of marines up and repaired the depo as they attacked it. He gg'd once all the lings were dead.

Next was TvT i saw him teching up for banshees/sieges so i just massed vikings marines and thors and it did the trick by the time he started pumping out vikings i had far too many thors for him to cope.
