GTX 480 and HDCP

My GTX480 says it's HDCP capable, but when I connect it via the supplied Mini HDMI cable to my Hyundai W240D monitor the monitor displays nothing. Connecting via DVI is fine. Does this mean the 480 is more than HDCP capable, in fact HDCP locked?

That doesn't make any sense to me, your either HDCP compliant or your not HDCP compliant there no such thing as 'more then HDCP capable'.

HDCP really only comes into play when your try to run encrypted HD content like Blu-Ray films it shouldn’t stop you from displaying you desktop at HD resolutions (1080 or 1200). Now from what I understand mini HDMI isn’t meant to used to run monitors rather more portable/smaller devices so that might be the problem there.

I’m surprised your monitor uses mini HDMI I would have thought it would have a native full fat HDMI connection for signal input or are you running this through an adaptor?
 
It's the card that has got a mini HDMI and it was supplied with a mini to std HDMI cable. The card spec say 'HDCP capable' but when just trying to boot the monitor says incompatible signal. When I use DVI the nvidia control panel says, under the HDCP tab, the monitor does not support it.

That's an odd problem but one that is solvable. First you need to identify where the problem is and that's done by the process of elimination. I would unplug you monitor and hook it up to another device that uses HDMI such as a freeview box, Sky HD box, laptop with a HDMI out etc and see if the HDMI connection on your monitor is working. If you can confirm it's working then you know it's an issue with the card or your hardware setup.

You might also want try the cards manufacturer website and see if they have an FAQ or updates for (BIOS or otherwise) that can help fix this problem. What brand is it BTW?
