Laptop for £300-£500.

A friend just nearly spent £500 on a laptop at the purple shirt place because they fed her bull crap! :mad:

I've told her I would find her better for cheaper. All she needs it for is pretty much surfing the internet, usual facebook crap and her work ie; word processing and the usual.

Now, I'm completely useless with laptops, so I'm asking for help from you experts!

So what would you recommend that would suit her needs, cheaper the better but would like to keep the screen at around 15".

dude, she could easily get a high end netbook for her needs.

The newer dual core netbooks like the n330 and n550 are superb, I can multi-task and even play a fw games on it too.

I opted for a high end netbook and not a laptop because I want to stop myself frm playing games on it, and this seems to have been perfect for that.

Unusally for a netbook it also has dual ram banks, so you can put in 4GB (or even 8GB) worth of ram.

I got a asus 1201N, 12" but they're constantly improving their 1201 line

I spend £292 on my machine, refurb.

I always buy refurbs, knock of £50 to £100 off the ususal market price.
