ATI 5770 - Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered

I get a very similar problem to this with my 3870. The only way I've found to fix it, is to change the AA settings. In games that have no in-game AA, if I force AA through CCC, I get the error you described, however if I use the in-game option (when available), I get no errors.

Not sure if this will be any help to you, but it's a bit more info I guess.

Hi, first post.

I own Radeon 5770 card, have it 6 months and no issues

running ccc drivers 10.2, dual monitor etc and games run MW1, Crysis, and Dragon Age

have you tried running older drivers?

what i have read this card has issues with different configs but runs smoothly on some

You more than likely have a faulty card, the steps Dancer posted or increasing fan speed permanently may well work but at the end of the day you'd be just skirting around a fault, I'd RMA it myself.

You would end up paying £20 for nothing as the ATi 5xxx series and a lot of the other ATi cards have a problem with amdkmdap crashing.
Its well documented cross the internet especialy on the AMD forums with a disscusion with well over 100 posts about this problem and various fixes.

Well tbh he says it's a problem he's had since day one so he should have returned it back then well within the cooling off period and perhaps got an NVidia card, ATI have had a lot of Powerplay problems/grey screen crashes etc and they don't look to be able to fix them with drivers.
