whos excited about new call of duty reveal today ?

Anyone remember the late night reveal for MW2 with Robert Bowling? I forget what the reveal actually was, something along the lines of a revolutionary new system to join games, buddying up etc.

Oh, and no console, lean, FoV change or mod tools.

Im definately looking forward to this now, I wonder what they will take next. Maybe there isnt actually a game, they just take 40 quid from your bank account and you are expected to be happy about it.

It's cool to hate COD innit.

And very fashionable, especially in the PC community. I'm looking forward to it, COD its great fun for a quick blast and hopefully this will right some of the wrongs made in MW2.

The other thing that annoys me is these people who seem to have some sort of morale objection to the money side of it. Shock horror, a company out to make as much of a profit as possible :/.

Dedicated servers, developer console and mod tools have already been confirmed, so it's already shaping up to be a breath of fresh air after the monumental failure that was MW2.

It's not a breath of fresh air, at the very best a breath stale cod4 air.

How can that possibly annoy you? You are annoyed that people have watched their beloved gaming platform degenerate into little more than an expensive pretty box destined only to play dumbed down generic console ports?
Maybe engage your brain a little and look a little deeper at why people are doing things that "annoy you" before making such idiotic statements.

It's more how they go on about it and the language they use:

people have watched their beloved gaming platform degenerate into...
The very fact you, and people like you, use that language as if we are talking about the degradation of society and break up of the family. It’s a video game ffs, if it is something you feel about so strongly there is clearing something not right with you.

Though my point of contention wasn’t so much how people dislike what’s happened to the game, I understand that (to a point). It's these posts you get saying, oh, activision only want's our money. Well no S***, they are a company out to make as much money as possible. It particularly gets creepy when they start invoking the idea, like, for example, valve care more about PC gamers.

Oh no they don't, they just have adopted a particular business model that just so happens to endear them to us more, they would plunder your wallet just as fiercely as activision do with COD if they could. Infact I am sure they chomped at the bit when the steam integration for MW2 was first pitched to them.

A game that lasts for years and we all enjoy is not a particularly profitable business model, not unless you charge a subscription like WOW or we buy DLC/expansion packs. Especially when PC gamers mod the game to there own preference and no doubt do a better job than the devs.

What annoys me is that some people think the idea of maxing profits out of gaming is blasphemous.

I'm not sure if your just trolling (you're belief that the word "degenerate", which simply means "to diminish in quality" can only be applied in Daily Mail-esque context would normally be warning enough...) but I'll try and point you towards "the point" which you seem so determined to miss.

Nobody is denying the fact that games publishers are there to make money. The thing which us annoying people object to is the way companies like Activision go about it (ie by re-hashing the same formulas and franchises, dumbing games down and stifling all creativity).
That in turn is effecting what people expect from games... if expectations are low then the less innovation is required thus we end up with the same rehashed games for years to come.

Valve are no saints but they at least pretend to care about the community and in comparison are less afraid to do something creative and new.

True, the COD series is getting long in the tooth now, and COD4 has been used as a template for every sequel since.

However, I am impressed with Treyarch on this one. It would have been so easy for them to follow suit with Infinity Ward and sell us PC owners another direct console port, but they aren't. They are giving the PC gaming enthusiasts back what was taken away from them in MW2.

My point of contention is and remains the level to which people seem to react to what is going on. By all means disapprove, but spare me the sermon on what PC gaming once was and how ‘’evil’’ the publishers/developers are. If you don’t agree with me that it’s unjustified to react in this way then fair play, but enough of the sob stories eh?

then why not just play cod 4? :o

i feel abit sorry for treyarch.. their sales figures are gonna be crap because of mw2

lool seriously loool seriously looooooooool

this isnt new they did similar with cod 2 and there was uproar with cod 1 uo fans about how console cod 2 was. in my op trey made the best cod there was uo they are more inventive but... they do take risks.

It's the complete opposite actually, you do realize 99% of CoD players don't really give a toss at all what the developer label on the case says? I bet the vast majority of them can't even name Infinity Ward or Treyarch!
