Well, finally got around to ordering the first few parts for my first build yesterday :)

Low and behold, got home from work this evening to the following: -

As I said in my title, this will be a slow build as I haven't got any more available funds for the build untill next pay day (24th Sept) :(

I only ordered the above as I noticed they were on offer this week, giving me a saving of £80 or so.

The full spec for the build with the exception of the case: -

I'll be using the Cooler Master CM-690 II Advanced for my case.

Will update as soon as remaining parts have been sourced. Here's hoping more go on offer!! LOL

Could be long 3 & 1/2 weeks just staring at 3 boxes!

Regards

should have left your graphics card til last, as you have to wait until ur next pay day...24th sept? Thts awefully close to the 6000 release date

Why can't you run all that in a virtual machine ?

It's also much safer to sandbox work from pleasure.

I'll look into that...

Not knowing that much about virtual machines, what software would you recommend?

Also, when running a virtual machine would other PC's on a network be able to full access it and its services?

Regards

Virtualbox is the business and very easy to use.

Yes you can set it up so that the network is bridged ie uses your network adapter hence an ip address is assigned to your machine and a different one for your virtual machine. You can have multiple interfaces too ;)

Also usb devices/cdrom devices can be passed through to the virtual machine too.

Unfortunately I can't :(

Regarding the 6000, anyone know what the prices are likely to be?

its pure vaporware atm mate as they haven't even been officially announced so pricing, specs and speed/features etc are all completely unknown.

In which case, holding off buying the graphics card doesn't really matter IMHO

So the rest of my components have just been ordered: -

Roll on Tuesday!!!!

Although shame I'm working from 3 till 10, at least something to look forward to :D

What I could give to have those components lying on my floor! Good luck and show us the progress.

Well the remaining components arrived just before I had to go to work to day: -

The thing I couldn't get over was the size of the Titan!!!

Now, do I slow start on it tonight or wait till the morning..... decisions, decisions.
