Cutting a long story short jusy before my wife n i split in december last year we had a TV and washing machine from Buy As You View. 2 weeks later she was gone, i had no idea obviously or i wouldnt have thad the suff. Its in my name. At the time i couldnt afford the repayments ( pounds in a meter that gives you so many hours per pound ) so i said she could take the stuff with her and informed BAYV that she was taking the items to her new address.

No problem there and for the last 9 months theyve called and collected the mnoney out of the meter.

In July i applied to have the name on the account changed from mine to hers. I signed the paperwork and she signed a credit agreement for what was outstanding.

Fast forward to last week when i was there visiting the kids and there was a knock on the door and it was Buy As You View with a laptop id apparently ordered. I refused to sign for it saying i hadnt ordered one and the account shouldnt even be in my name.

I got on the phone to them and they have no record of the request to change the account name and no record of her signing a credit agreement. Luckily i have copies ;)

Then i asked about the laptop. Apparently my ex had ordered it and it had gone thru. How can she do that if the account is in my name? And to cap it all theyve added the lapotp to the balance even tho i refused to sign for it so any early repayment option or the minimum paymetn to voulantarily return the stuff had just been reset. They have said tho now that the laptops been sent back the agreement should revert to what it was, which will mean they want another £500 before it can be returned voulantarilly.

Any advice on who to contact apart from citizens advice?

I'd make a written complaint to them initially voicing your concern over the lack of change of name (send them copies of your copies) and also how if they geniunely believed that the account was still in your name then how did she order anything.
Tell them you want confirmation of the account being correctly passed over to her and that you you have nothing more to do with it. Ask for it to be dealt with in line with their official complaints procedures (Most compaines have them)

Give them 21 days to respond and take it from there. In most cases taking up with them formally gets good results, plus if you need to take it further you've shown you've attempted to deal with them first.

Cheers guys i'll get a letter written tomorrow afternnon when i get up.

Just getting ready for another exciting night shift :p
