hey guys i recently joined talk talk ISP. On the day I joined I had 5.54 MB now I am barely hitting 3. Any ideas?

Short Answer........Talk Talk. its dire for internet speed. and is famous for it. when you can choose another ISP

So your unable to get BT, Virgin or Sky??? as your ISP

I can get sky but non LLU so uses BT line.
I hate BT and virgin is unavailable

how longs it been since you joined, and have you spoke to talk talk ?

might be worth posting up the stats off your router as well.

keep an eye on it and note down the times that the speed drops, usually only get throttled for exceeding usage limits etc.

check the router stats when its close to full speed and when it drops should hopefully show something obvious aside from the speed change.

Oh now dont get me started on Talk Talk. MY connection never stays a constant 8mb.

Luckily moving house soon with a LLU provider nearby so shouldnt be a issue anymore.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Talk Talk LLU.
Talk Talk are my only LLU option.
I'm actually using Opal - which is the corporate side of Talk Talk, as I wanted a static IP.

I'm connecting at 18mb/1mb.
Connection has been fast and constant.
I've been using them for 6 months and I've only known of one half-hour downtime in those 6 months.

Quick question for you jordan282, do you by any chance do any gaming on the PC or on any Console, and is it heavy gaming or light or any at all?

Well to me that seems to be the problem, as i have many friends that are on Talk Talk and its seems that 90% of my friends under Talk Talk all have this same issue but it only seems to appear when they have been gaming either on PC or a console, and there are known rumours around that Talk Talk is a very good ISP for people that DO NOT GAME!!!, this ISP is for people that just surf the internet and read emails, general stuff, the ISP is not good for any kind of gaming in mind.

I may be wrong but on past experience with them and friends that are on Talk Talk it seems to be the gaming issue that creates the problem with Talk Talk.
