**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Just playing through Vanilla Dragon Age for the first time, then I'm gonna mod the crap out of it and play it again.

Absolutely awesome game, I love it to bits, a true rival for Planescape: Torment and the Baldur's Gate 'Trilogy' in my affections. The role-playing is so immersive, all the decisions feel weighty and the way the origins colour the main plot is really cleverly done.

The game is such a CPU hog though, considering the graphics aren't really top notch! I cranked the AA and res up and I was getting very high temps...

I got just over half way through then decided i didnt like my mage and wanted a arcane warrior so decided to start again :) I found most of the mage items and armor to be pretty meh.

Defentily gonna get the skip the fade mod though found that bit really annoying and the better sexy times mod.

I played this on PS3, and it is def more of a PC game. Too much stuff to tinker with that makes a keyboard and mouse = win for this. Fun game though, except I got to the final boss tried once and thought meh, never played again and traded it in.

Just got through Golems of Amgarrak on hard...The Harvester sure gave my near invulnerable warrior a pounding. Ended up killing him with only my character and the rogue (+his bronto), as the other two died in the proces. If only Awakening was as hard :S

I'm going to have to reroll and do Golems again because I'm totally stuck on the harvester with my 2h warrior, they all just get squashed in seconds...

I never got round to finishing awakening or doing any of the DLC I'd bought but I'm in a real DA:O mood again and went through the awakening ending and the stand alone DLC.

Now for another full play through! Modded, min/maxed and on nightmare mode :)

EDIT: Can anyone recommend a mod that lets you test out character builds?

I love the voice acting in DA and I have a strange thing for Morrigan, but I'm getting awfully bored of the rinse and repeat style of combat. Is it worth me battling through the tedium and finshing the game?

For any one that hasnt got it yet you can get Dragon Age Origins Awakening for £6 out of hmv or on their site.

playing it right now and so far so good.

Near the beginning of my 1st play through got a lvl 4(or 5) mage who will be specialising as an arcane warrior shortly.

Just got the dog and arrived in the 1st city. Really liking it so far, the storyline is good, enjoying the combat aswell. 1st boss fight was enjoyable.

GFX aren't as good as I was hopeing but doesn't really take anything away from the game, cut sences can be a bit jerky though.

All in all really liking it :)

:EDIT: Does this thread contain spoilers? just want to know as I haven't read through it all yet.

Almost certainly. In general the combat is great if you take your time. There are always people who whine about it being too easy on Impossible but frankly i think they're talking out there arse.

My combat seems to revolve around sending all my melee guys in to mosh it up with the bad guys, and my mage at the back casting sleep and then nuking the odd luckless fella with fireballs/lightning. Add in some pauses and its the same each fight. Am I doing it wrong?
