do you believe in horoscopes?

No.

However the day after I broke my leg the g/f was reading a TV mag and quoted my hororscope, the first line was....

"You won't be needing your shoes for a while":o

After a quick Google, there does seem to be research to back up my hypothesis.
Yup, and a quick look on Pubmed / ISI / your preference gives just as many debunking it all, or that find links but different links to previously published stuff. Small sample size, stats, survey design, the population under study itself etc etc. It's a difficult thing to make anything out of.

No belief in horoscopes here although occasionally they're amusing to read, especially if you compare them across the 12 months to see how many times the same generalities come up. There's a vague possibility that some could be true but it would be extremely difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Fair enough. Unfortunately I don't have access to the journals I once did.

Since it applies to well over 500 Million people, one or two are bound to have a broken leg! :p

And the rest will view it as a metaphor about how they aren't going to be doing much travelling, and the use of "a while" covers you in for anything from half an hour to a month or whatever you care to think.

No I don't believe in horoscopes. They're quite obviously vague statements that apply to the majority. I do worry about people who fail to realise this.

Yes of course! My day today, tomorrow and every other day is going to be exactly the same as roughly 1/12 of the population of the planet...

may i ask the sceptics to do what i did then. read yours for a few weeks and compare them to other star signs. it is probably just a pure coincidence but i've been checking mine since the start of august (i'm a sagitarian btw) and checking every other star sign aswell and mine has reflected events in my present life quite truely whereas the other stars signs have not. i'm still sceptical but it was quite freaky

Alternatively you just retrofitted what has happened in your life to the purposfully vague horoscope. Do you honestly think that 1/12 of the population is having a similar day to you just because they happened to be born in a certain month?

Confirmation bias says hello.
