Just a quick one...

Selling a bike on ebay as cash on collection only, someone local messaged me to ask if it had a buy it now price.

I told him he could have it for £70, if he's happy with that, now what happens?

Do I have to edit the auction, set a £70 buy it now price, message him about it and then hope he's the one who clicks it first?

How do fees get paid too if its cash on collection?

It's up to you.

If you end the auction now, you get charged just the listing fee. You meet the guy, exchange the £70 and it's all yours. Nobody gets any feedback etc... infact, it's best to just pretend eBay has been nothing more than a noticeboard, there is no protection etc.

If you switch to a Buy It Now. You will get a final valuation fee and eBay is going to want 10% of that £70 on your next eBay statement.

you can set a buy it now hoping he will click it.

or you can arrange a collection time, hope he does not back out the sale and then end the time

its only 10% if you bid. a buy it now is a lot cheaper

As for fees. eBay will debit the bank account you have on your PayPal account.

I would imagine you can pay them other ways... as people have said they chase you for it.

Depends on what you are selling.

Most are 9.9% which is pretty much 10%.

A few others categories are made to look like they are as low as 5.25%, but then have a whole bunch of other percentages added on top of that. So it's still getting near 10% again.

Last year?

eBay changed fees for private sellers just a few months ago.
It's now 10% for an auction, regardless of price of the item.

Not so good anymore, but what can you do?

i wasnt aware they have changed the fees again:mad:

Just tell him to come and pick it up and pay cash.

If he does, just close the listing.

And next time use gumtree instead for bikes, MUCH better.
