A family member has had their 8800GTX give up on em (I originally got it from OcUK as a value card nearly 3 years ago so not too bad I suppose!).

This is for Gaming on a 720p screen with an AMD 6400+ Athlon so what do you think should replace it?

Budget ?

With that old CPU and only gaming at 720p, I would say you should just get a 9800GT or a HD4850. Definitely don't go above 4870 or 5770, or the CPU will become the limiting factor.

This is the point really, being limited to that CPU does constrain the latest & greatest GPUs and the CPU aint gonna be upgraded anytime soon.

The 8800GTX was fine for performance TBH so maybe a DX11 card that uses less juice and is quiet .... ???

I would not eat anything from that lool

take the cooler off, and clean off all the...... erm stuff

I belive you have to pop the card on something so its isolated from the try, I think that would be tin foil balls, than wrap in tinfoil something like that than its gas mark 3 at 210? is it leave for 10 minutes wait till cold....you know the rest
