Worth £1500pp for a return trip to Cancun?! My wallet says no but my head is saying do it :D:D

Experiences? Or should I suck it up and sit in World Traveller for 10hr20mins?! :o

I got an upgrade to "club world" i could hardly tell the difference.

In fact i was probably worse off as I had an exit seat with loads of leg room originally.

im 6`6" :O

Stick to Cattle Class IMO it's only for 10 hours and 20 minutes.
If you watch a couple of films and read a book then that's pretty much time up anyway.

To me it wouldn't be worth it to pay 2x just for a better seat & dinner for 10 hours, not unless I earned enough that money wasn't an issue

I've flown to and from Australasia 3 times, 24 hrs+ flying and each time in cattle class, 10 hrs is nothing tbh :p

Can you afford it? Will it depreciate the holiday if you do?

I wouldn't personally, I just sleep on planes, waste of money getting expensive seats.

Depends on whether that's an affordable sum for you.

I've been lucky enough to always find myself in Club or higher on my travels and as a result I've been utterly, utterly spoiled. I find that I can't sleep in Economy so I'd rather pay the extra money to arrive at my destination refreshed, relaxed and ready to start my holiday than tired, grumpy and suffering from jetlag.

I used to look at the extra cost this way; work out what the holiday is costing you 'per day' and see if you can afford a day or two of being somewhat unable to enjoy yourself and don't forget to factor in the day or two when you get back and potentially have to go straight back to work.

As a silly example, I've been to Hawaii twice. The first time was mainly Economy and it took me two days of being in Waikiki to straighten myself out and a couple of days of feeling like a zombie when I got home before I could function at work. The second time I flew Club (or equivalent) and I stepped off the 'plane and was able to start my holiday and went back to work the day after I arrived home.

I'm assuming you mean me, Sp00n?

If it's a long-haul flight I find that I'm suffering if I don't get to sleep whilst in the air. Otherwise my body clock seems to take an age to adjust itself and I don't really get my act together as a result. The last time I flew long-haul, which was a while ago, I had a day in bed at the other end as I felt like death warmed up and was staggering around like an over-enthusiastic extra from a zombie movie.

Sadly this all stems from a childhood/young-adulthood of thinking that having your own little comfy space on a flight, be that a whopping great reclining armchair or your own little 'pod', is totally normal. I have to be very, very tired to sleep in the type of seating you get in Economy or pop some sleeping tablets to knock myself out.

Looking back, I wouldn't change my childhood flying experiences for the world and I consider myself to have been incredibly lucky to have flown where I did, how I did. But it's certainly costing me now!

I just fancy the experience after recently flying to and from Montego Bay on Virgin Economy which was hell - damn screaming kiddies

you get that in any class you fly, I had it on a Virgin Upper class when I only went upper to get some sleep :(

Depends on the difference in fare.

I would rather spend a day like a zombie the other end than spend double the fare.

I'm glad I don't have to waste money on an expensive ticket just to get some sleep, maybe when I earn the big monies I'll try it.

I restate a comment that I made a few weeks ago - I can't envisage myself flying anything but economy, unless I suddenly become fabulously wealthy or, as happened recently, someone else is paying for it.

Skipping queues and extending my legs on the plane while quaffing champagne is all well and good, but I don't think I'd pay several hundred pounds of my own money to enjoy the privilege.

Get on the plane, sleep, read a book and listen to some music, and arrive at your destination significantly richer.

What you are describing is jetlag and sleeping on the plane isn't necessarily the cure. The best cure is sleeping at the right time on the plane and planning in advance to eith extend or compress days before you go, there are various other techniques like avoiding daylight that are also beneficial. Better planning and preperation is the key not necessarily spending thousands of pounds for a little extra leg room.

I think you must have had world traveller plus, club world is massively different

Club World is fantastic - I got a return flight to Australia with Club world and the difference is staggering. For starters you get the Airport business lounges which have all the food, drink, newspapers, internet & some have showers. I was well on my way before even getting on the plane.

When your flight is ready you just stroll over to the gate and you're sat first, as soon as you're sat they throw a glass of champers into your hand. The Club world seats turn into full beds I'm 6' 3" and I couldn't touch the wall at the end.

You get a menu with a much higher quality of breakfast/lunch/dinner options, actual metal cutlery (with BA). The screens are much bigger, the blankets are better - I could go on!

However it does cost a bloody fortune, I did it when BA were offering buy one get one free on Business class flights - so that helped. Having said that the air miles I got from that one trip then entitled me to a free return flight anywhere in Europe.
