BA Club World

Tbh I'd still rather go in economy and use the £1500 savings during the holiday on eating even better food at amazing restaurants

Exactly, or spend it on a higher class of hotel, 10 hours of quality accomodation for £1500 for 10 nights of quality accomodation for £1500?

mugs game.

Although keep an eye out, certain city pairs have ridiculously cheap business flights.

Once the difference between a business and economy fare was a mere £300, on a £600 economy fare. Would be a sucker not to take it at taht price.

Just go economy and take advantage of the free booze. You won't notice the difference after a while, as you'll be fast asleep. Don't be afraid to ask the stewardesses for things too, if you want a better blanket just explain that and chances are you'll be given one.
It helps if you're a member of the frequent flyer program but if you ask nicely and be friendly with them they will go out of their way to accommodate you.

The lounges are nice, I get access to the Platinum Elite lounge for KLM at Schiphol and it's a nice addition but unless you're waiting hours for a connection it's not really that beneficial.

I would absolutely love to fly club world once in my life time - but I can't afford it, or even if I could I don't think I could justify the cost - it's basically the cost of another holiday. I'm 6ft 8" and the space would really help, especially on long haul. Tis a shame because we've amassed a fair few BA points too.

I'd definitely do it. Being in Business or First makes such a difference. Especially as your flying for over 10 hours !
20 hours of flying out of a 336 hour holiday really isn't much. Sure, business/first is really nice, and I'd never turn it down, but paying twice as much for a holiday to have a few nice drinks and some decent food on the plane is crazy. Unless, of course, you're loaded - in which case you'd probably not be going to Cancun for a grand!

Booked the holiday - going economy which means another £3k saved for another nice holiday somewhere :D

Club is soooo tempting though - might see what the upgrade price is on the day at the airport as the Virgin Econ to Upper was £900 at the airport....

Secrets Maroma here we come :D:D

If someone said to you that they have a job where they'd pay you to sit in a fairly cramped seat for a 10 hour shift, with free food, drink and whatever entertainment you wanted and they would pay you £1500 would you turn it down?

That tends to be how I see it

I use VA PE which is about £200 upgrade on the basis that I wouldn't sit in economy for £200 for 10 hrs where UC is £1000 extra and I would sit in economy for a grand :p

£1500 - ignoring the holiday benefits, you could buy some new furniture, clothers, a huge ass TV, your wife/GF a nice piece of jewelrey, put it in savings for a rainy day.

A free upgrade is worth it but £150 per hour do you get paid that much?

When I was flying back from America a couple of years back, I went to check in using the automated system and there was an option for upgrading to first class. For a laugh I checked the price, it was an extra £500, so figured what the hell, I only live once.

It was sublime and if I could afford it, it would be first/upper class everytime. Had a really nice steak for dinner on the way back :D

It wasn't just the steak, it was the overall service, much more legroom, the ability to make the seat almost flat so I could sleep better and a few other things.

Club World really isn't anything special IME and the service leaves a lot to be desired, probably due to the grumpy old hags that reside in the galley.

Business Class is worth it to Cancun, but I'd try and go with a better airline.

If you can really afford it then do it!

Personally, I'd just suck it up and spend the £1500 on a few extravagant dinners :)

I think you must have had world traveller plus, club world is massively different

ooh yes after looking at those pictures... hahah
