This is why being a badge snob when you have banger money is bad.

i must be tired but that took me a few attempted to read and understand. basically a car that was once dear is always going to be dear to maintain.

tbh avoid unless you can weald your own spanners and so can avoid garages bumming you

We've part x it for a vectra 2.0 DTI on a 51 plate, Got £1000 for audi and paid £1000 for vectra, so the vectra cost £2000.

A bit of a downgrade from the audi, but the vectra is growing on us. Just hope it will pull our 1.1ton caravan ok:confused:

On the parkers site, it says, our audi could pull 1.6ton and vectra 1.3ton, but the thing is, will it pull the caravan up hills ok without the temp gauge rising too much. Theirs a killer of a hill for cars in wales called Dinas Mawddwy. The hill is a few miles long and it gets steeper as you go up. In our citroen xm 2.5TD we had, if there was no traffic we would get a run up at about 70 - 90mph then just before the tight right bend, just before the top of the hill your crawling at 30-40mph in 2nd -3rd gear. Not sure how well our audi handled that hill,, but dad went up it towing the caravan in the audi, and apparently it pulled the caravan up it fine. But Im guessing the vectra wont like it much?

Bit too late to be researching and worrying about it isn't it?

Get your Dad to hitch the trailer up and go flat out for the money shot and see what happens :)

audi to vauxbollox must be like crashing into the earth

Well the only downside with the vectra is, is not as good on acceleration as the audi. But the vectra looks tidier, bigger boot, backseats fold down and 2yrs newer. So its not all that bad, its not the car we would have chosen, but we had to get rid of the audi as quickly as poss before it totally broke:p But vectra is growing on us now and ppl say they are real good and reliable cars. I think if it tows ok, it will be a better car allround.
