Proximity sensor doing my head in

I make a call in a somewhat noisy environment and the company on the other end of the phone gives a number of options by pressing 1-4 on the keypad. One major problem, its an Iphone 3g and the proximity sensor has blacked the phone. I cannot choose any of the options and the call becomes a waste of time. Is it possible to turn the sensor off as using the speaker wasn't appropriate at the time also?

Not for me yikes! I wonder if it's defaulting to stanby or has anything to do with the Jam-Jacked rubber case on it?

Does the screen go black when you try and use visual voicemail? If so the case is triggering the proximity sensor when it shouldn't.

Press speaker and it stops.

I think i'm going mad to be honest!

So this is fixed now  I've jb mine but the sensor is causing me so many issues I'm happy to go back to standard if it's been fixed?

Drive's me insane, maybe 80% of my calls have some sort of issue due to this :(

I'm guessing you mean the new issue, with the sensor not disabling the screen? That's gonna be fixed with OS 4.1 next Wednesday. (The OP's problem was with the screen not turning on.)
