HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Does the HD2 run cyanogenmod 6 perfectly?

Not entirely sure, don't have one, but that's not the point i'm getting at.

If HTC re-released the Hero again as a top spec phone with a different name you'd be a bit miffed right?

I just wanted to know, because I'd be interested in buying one. :p

No idea what the conversation itself is about.

Ah ok, wasn't sure if you were just trying to be smart. :p

Just noticed yesterday that Android has also been ported over to the HD so i'm going to be giving that a try when I get my phone fixed.

Entitled to an upgrade as of the 1st of this month so will hang on and see some more info on this phone before I commit to anything else.

Can people still get 12 month contracts? Managed to get my Hero last year on a 12 month plan which was lovely hate waiting 18.

Quite a few android builds for HD2 now over on XDA, i'm running a cyanogen one now, runs pretty flawlessly tbh, everything working as it should, next step is to flash to nand rather than run from SD card but its still very smooth in operation.

how well does it run android compared to windows mobile.i have a hd2 gathering dust and if it can run andriod off the phone mem id be interested.

I havent used an android native device, but even running from SD card its as fast and smooth as you'd expect, i do like the winmo hd2 but theres just very little development happening for it now winmo 7 is around the corned, I only got my hd2 as I was due and upgrade and was planning on selling when the desire was released, now i don;t have to its really that good.

I hope the Desire HD doesn't have a qwerty slideout keypad. I can't see why it would need one with such a big screen, it would just add to the weight and thickness.

is that not going to be the desire Z...a standard desire with the qwerty so not so massive

Hmm, it's definitely an Android handset, so don't worry about that! It's just a very poor rendering.

Yeah definately Android, however HTC is hopefully releasing a WP7 handset shortly too.

Also looks like WP7 will be officially released on the 11th October with potentially some rather nice phones

Hopefully it'll have a large screen and some decent specs.

At the moment the images of the Desire HD really don't fill me with confidence looks wise, that alongside the apparent spect being essentially a Desire with a big screen (or more likely a HD2 running Android) is a bit of a downer for me as both the fore mentioned phones will be cheaper. A decent WinPho phone could definately sway me over, especially as WinPho looks very nice.
