Evening all,

Just picked up Just Cause 2, never played the first one so hope i ain't missing anything.

I am 3 hours in so far and am alittle undecided whether to carry on or not :(

It seems there's 7 story missions, i have just started story mission 3.

I dont really understand the the way your surposed to play/progress through the game :p

You have to cause "chaos" to unlock each mission and this is rather boring after a while.

The game area is massive ! no other word for it really. But its takes ages travelling to different bases to cause chaos then travel to there next story mission

Anyone got any tips for playing this game ?? or should i just save my time and move onto another game.

Thanks Ben

Stop playing. The game's clearly not for you. You could have found this out before buying by reading any review or the large thread on this forum.

It's not the kind of game you play for the story. It's a huge and awesome sandbox for you to play in.
Go skysurfing on some 'planes.

It's like leveling on warcraft, you have to earn enough XP to level up for the new mission. Just do faction/stronghold missions to earn chaos, much quicker than going around destroying things.

its a sandbox game good for about a week or two and then gets boring....

if you play it too much, same can be said for any game

one of the devs did a "speed" run for the missions he clocked up 100 hours, bare in mind he knew what to do...

ive had it since launch (12 hours gameplay) and im barley starting lol great fun though

also, i notice you said itt akes ages to travel... TIP: use the guys helicopter taxi service

i couldnt get into it, but i like to play games were i always have a goal not just 'destroy random stuff till this bar fills'.

If you are playing on hard, start again on normal, I am barely a couple of hours in and suck! I will be starting again on normal ad hopefully I can have some fun without dieing in seconds.

Another tip steal a plane go fly around all the island and if you see a town/village/landmark fly close to it to mark it on the map. then as above the taxi service will drop you at any discovered location.

I found this makes the game a lot more interesting and easier to progress.

I nearly gave up on this too - ive had it for months and when i got it i just could not see how i would have as much fiun as everyone in the massive thread on game.

on thursday i gave it another crack and am having a great time.

e.g. i have just, by accident , come accross the luca lau (or some bloody thing) military airbase with 2 awesome brand new jets and an attack chopper.

the missions vary up as you go.

defintely give it another few more hours - the vehicles handle better as you progress.

edit: there is a set story mission and loads fo side missions. if you want the 'set goal' then do the story missions.

Thanks for all the replies guys :)

I decided to give it some more game time and i am enjoying it now ;) 7 hours in and just going to start story mission 5.

Never seen a game area so big  every time i jump in a plane or chopper and climb i am gob smacked at the size of the place !!

More than likely see me over untill halo reach comes out :p

Side missions are the easier/less time consuming/more fun way to unlock new story missions - some of the side missions are more fun and memorable than most of the story missions anyway so they're worth doing.

The game is awesome i love grappling someone onto the harrier and then jumping off and trying to sky dive so i can watch the fall out of what ive just made happen.

Go find an oil rig and fly a passenger plane in to it, I expect you'll enjoy the game more then.

I gave up on this game after playing it for hours and hours. I hated it at first and then got quite into it after a while. I soon got bored though and put it away in a drawer. So after reading the above quote from 2Thumbs I thought I'd dig it out and try the passenger plane thingie. I've only gone and deleted my saved game data from my console  What a numpty I am :D

Just realised that I hadn't deleted any saved game files at all. Nicked a passenger plane ... flew into an oil rig .... got bored right after it. It's now thankfully back in the drawer!
