HSBC Visa Debit Card Blocked?

I've just tried to buy something on iTunes and it keeps declining my card. I have the right amount of funds in my account. I also tried to register on a credit check site and it kept declining my card there aswell.

Has my card been blocked? It's due to expire in 08/12. I last successfully used it in July.
 
Mine was blocked from Xbox live yesterday, they rang me almost immediately and told me it had been "copied by a fraudster", so I am now spending an entire weekend with no visa debit card while I wait for the new one to come out

She said "you are lucky it hasen't been used yet as many have"

Might be worth a call mate?

I had a problem with my HSBC Visa debit card the other month and when I phoned them they told me that my card number was 1 of a batch that they believed could be suspect to fraud so they closed the account and issued me another card.
 
It's not bad as it's only connected to my current acc which has the measly sum of 70p. I wanted to buy angry birds :( Guess a call is due to them. Sucks.
 
If in any doubt call them, if you cannot get hold of a human call the lost/stolen number and cancel the card there allways seems to be someone on that service, good luck!
 
I got a call from them (First Direct) last Tuesday saying they'd had to block mine as 6 apparently fraudulent payment for Xbox Live services had been attempted.

Quite impressed by how well they picked up on it, tbh.
 
Does anyone have the number I have to ring to get it unblocked? And are they open on a Sunday?

they usually forward you to the right dept if they can't deal with the issue


It may also be their fraud dept tried calling you and you weren't available so have blocked the card in the meantime
 
Best bet is to say I've lost it I guess? And to be more careful with my card. Ain't used a ATM for months though. Neither any dodgy websites, weird that.

This is good advice. Lost and stolen will have a lot of customers who need to be forwarded on to fraud so they'll almost certainly be able to direct you to the correct department and tell you when they are open.
