When was the last time you just went for a drive?

I got my son to give me a lift to the paper shop this morning, he didnt moan too much.

I would say about a quarter of all the mileage I do is just going out for a drive. Be that late night blast or pointing the car in a random direction and seeing where it takes me.

Having lived in Scotland, and driven all around America, the roads in Hampshire seem really rather too dull to just 'go for a drive' :(

Scotland - A82, A87 etc when I was at Uni in Edinburgh, but might be going back that way in a couple of weeks :)

North America - Route 101, Tail of the dragon, Banff national park etc. So that was about a year ago now.

True enough. Would love to take my SLK through the smokey mountains. Just wasn't the same in the Chrysler 300 we rented.

If im not out socialising on a friday or a saturday ill quite often stick £20 of petrol in the car and not come back till its empty :D

The last time would be when i lived in Germany and would have a drive to the Nurburgring. I miss my Sundays out.

Probably 2 weeks ago, it was a weekday evening! I did about 100 miles!!!!

Going for one this afternoon but its started to rain here, so may stick to the A roads now.

Not for a long time. My car aint worth a packet and doesn't cost all too much to run, but I sat here thinking just this morning to be honest that if I had a smaller, cheaper to run, fun little tinbox I'd probably be going for a sunday afternoon somewhat spirited drive because it's cheap, not too quick in such a car and actually more fun not over doing it?!

Seems a common thought :)

I would say about 10 years ago.

That sounds really sad but driving has turned into a real chore....drive to work, drive home from work, drive kids to relatives/ days out etc.

Wish i had a car it was worth going "just for a drive in"

Last Monday, filled car up and headed out the city. Ended up at ladybower reservoir some lovely road/scenery up there. The Panda loved it also :D

Quite often will take a rather long route to the gym/swimming pool so I can thrash it down some backroads :)

When was the last time you went for a drive for no other reason than to enjoy your car?

An hour ago, in the Westfield - a car that is only used for "I'm going for a drive" :-)

Very rarely when I'm in Bristol, the roads are absolute crap and there's not really anywhere fun to drive for some distance. When I'm back in Swindon though, a lot more often. Much closer to the country side and only 10 mins from empty roads.

Anyone has recommendations around Brizzle?

Since petrol has gone up and the roads filled with more sunday "40mph everywhere" drivers it isn't as enjoyable as it was once said to be...

I'm away from home and can't even remember when I last went for a drive.

I've been a passenger in an Audi RS4 doing some absolutely stunning roads in Europe for the last 10 days though. Hopefully this week we'll be doing exactly the same route that Jeremy Clarkson did with the RS4 on Top Gear when he raced those climbers up the mountains in the south of France, that should be good fun. :D

If only I could get insured on it. :(

As much as I like driving, I enjoy being a passenger when driving around. It gives you the freedom to appreciate and take pictures of some of the interesting places you drive past without worrying about being distracted.
