There seems to be some confusion/uncertainty over how 'reference' the Asus GTX470 V2 is.

Well, I decided (as SLI isn't working) to take it apart and do some 'naked' shots of it, compared against TechPowerUps! shots of the reference card.

And the reference design:

As you can see, the Asus card is identical to the reference design in seemingly every way layout-wise and the cooler is the same as well.

I couldn't be arsed for now. I'll do that when I fit a decent cooler.

When I do, it'll probably be Zalman's brush on stuff.

Thanks for the pics :D, did a bit of spot the difference and i couldnt find anything at all different :D but RJconeill sayed that some caps and chockes were in different places and i would risk damaging the card putting on the block? :( This is definitely the ASUS V2?.

Now im really confused :(.

Definitely a V2. There's no difference.

i dont get why they use so much TP surly they could drop 5 degrees with a proper thin application of TP on their GPUs? and with them all being so hot now days every little helps..

These GPU's are assembled in sweatshops in the far east somewhere, some Asian guy/gal sits at a conveyor belt and as each 470 passes by they grab their paint brush dip in to the bucket of cheap thermal paste and splash it on, there is no elegance in it.

Thats for the piccys mate but ive not gone for 2 EVGA SC with high flow bracket and backplate was to tempting :)
