I'm not talking games like tf2 or battlefield...

Just found a game called Alititude and it reminds me of ProjectX on the Amiga.

Alien Swarm is another breath of fresh air!

What other games have people enjoyed that are totally different or not been attempted for years?

I liked games like Cannon Fodder, Sensible Soccer, Jungle Strike, James Pond etc etc

I have a fair amount of indie stuff.

I have (amongst others) -

Altitide, Trine, AudioSurf, Booster Trooper, Braid, Defense Grid: The Awakening, DogFighter, Gridrunner Revolution, Shatter, Plants vs Zombies, Osmos, Plain Sight, Super Laser Racer, Toki Tori, World of Goo, Machinarium.

Some free demos of a few of the above -

By found i assume you meant 'couldnt avoid the free weekend spam'? :p

People say Audiosurf and overlook the newer Beat Hazard which is considerably more fun imo.

There's so many brilliant indie and non-mainstream titles out there, here's just a few. Played / playing them all, highly recommend you at least check them out :).

World of Goo (puzzle)
Machinarium (puzzle)

Ben There, Dan That (FREE point & click adventure)
Time Gentlemen, Please! (point & click adventure squeal to above)
Samorost (FREE point & click adventure)

Defense Grid: The Awakening (Tower Defense)

Darwinia (RTS)

The Void (Hard to categorise, just started it, amazingly different from anything I've played)

Recettear (see our thread on it http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18166250)

Trine (Platform Adventure and awesome in co-op)

Aquaria

Amazing game. Don't let the screenshots fool you. It's a pretty dark game plot-wise. Great metroid-style free-roaming action mixed with Ecco the Dolphin style setting. I couldn't put it down once I'd started it. It's massive and has an extensive crafting system and many hidden treasures and challenges. Everyone needs to play this.

Has anyone played The Path? It looks really interesting, in a weird kind of way.

From a gamer's point of view it's awful. Really really awful. It's interactive art, not a game. There's a 'let's play' on youtube that I found more interesting than the game itself... And that was solely because of the confusion it caused the player!
