I needed a new mobo so got hold of an Asus P5QLD. No idea about the quality of this thing but expectations aren't high since I generally despise Asus.

Anyway, this thing goes up and beyond 45 deg while gaming which means the PC probe alarm goes off. Is 45 deg too high or the threshold too low?

45 degrees on what? CPU? If so thats completely safe. PC Probe is hardly reliable anyway so best not to use.

Well, it just says the mobo temp is 45 [don't really know what this means]. CPU temp is 35, which is more than good.

Maybe I just shouldn't worry myself with PC Probe.

45 is fine for the NB

on my p5e it used to get up to 65-70 before i watercooled it

edit: get yourself hwmonitor (made by the same people who make cpu-z) - that'll give you far more reliable temp readings

No need for PC probe, if you really need to have it installed just raise the thresholds, 45 degrees on the northbridge (or southbridge) is far too low for an alarm to be going off!

I've never really had an issue with Asus, on the whole I find they generally produce pretty good - stable boards, bar the atrocious 780i based P5N-T deluxe (this is the only bad one that instantly springs to mind).

That temp is fine, just raise the threshhold in the settings to something like 70c, to get rid of the alarm, even at 70c your fine.

My version of PC Probe (version 2) gives same readouts as HWmonitor, so its quite handy for quick glances of readings.

The board is fine, asus pc probe on the other hand is complete and utter garbage, dont even use it on your system.
