Credit Rating

Just a quick thought, The woman from the council said, even if I return the papers the next day the roll isnt changed until the first of December, by then I will of moved so there is no point in filling this out. This whole thing is ridiculous

When I took my first phone contract out in my name when I was 18 I got turned down. So rang o2 and explained it etc. I had a good job no debts just never had any bills. After some explaining they let me have the contract as aparently the site is different to the shops and customer services.

Any reccomendations on a credit card? I have already been turned down for a mobile contract, so I dont want to be turned down for a Credit Card as this would look baddd.

Capital One is a good credit card to apply for, for people with low credit scores or adverse financial history such as bankruptsy.

If you're not on the electoral roll, you'll find it extremely difficult to get any kind of credit. A mobile phone contract is one of the easiest things to get, as in many cases you're not even borrowing money, you just get a phone..

Get yourself on the electoral roll, don't bother applying for anything else as theres a 99% chance it'll get declined. If you were on, even with a very poor credit rating or non existant, I'm 99% sure you'd get approved for a phone.

The electoral roll is important because it shows that the 'state' knows of you're registered abode, and where to go if there are problems. If credit companies lent money to people not on the electoral roll - it'd allow gypsies and all manner of dodgy people access get approved for loans, then disappear without trace.

Your credit file doesn't show what you paid back each month - it simply shows whether or not you made a payment if a payment was required.

It does now - certain lenders are sharing more information. Full payment history, historical credit limit, if your balance is at a promotional rate, if you only paid the minimum payment, if you had a cash advance etc.

The thing with this is, is that when applying to be on the electoral role it isnt update until 1st December, I need the history just in case I come along problems in my new apartment
