***Official Halo Reach Thread***

It's very very different to CoD. Instead of encounters where it's whoever is the first to aim and shoot wins, battles between players are often protracted. You rely more on movement and versatility during combat, plus an awareness of the environment while you're fighting. Much much different to CoD's brand of gameplay where encounters last literally a second or two - whoever presses aim then presses fire wins. Perhaps that sounds incredibly cynical of me, but that's how it really plays and to me that is totally devoid of any charm or gameplay compared to Halo. You get to evaluate whether you can take your chances or turn around and run away, and it's often like a cat and mouse game on most matches. CoD doesn't really have that, like I said, one of two players who encounter each other will die within 1 or 2 seconds, and it's not a dynamic or exciting idea of combat at all.

CoD is like quickly stabbing somebody in the face, instantly killing them (and if you're not fast enough, you're the one getting stabbed in the face and dying straight away). Halo like is a vicious brawler where you're going 12 rounds toe-to-toe, and you will likely get the time to look your opponent in the eyes before he dies.

You are right that in COD, you tend to die pretty much the second you encounter somebody.

Halo though is pretty much like any classic FPS like Unreal Tournament or Quake, you don't die instantly as you have health/shields. So with the lowest spec weapons, you will spend a while pumping bullets into each other until one of you goes down. However, if one of you has a rocket launcher or some such, then you are going to win that one if you can get a shot off.

Hints to where from?

It's on the deals website.

Though not sure I'd trust that company for a pre-order of a game, as I believe they've messed up in the past.

It does however show that this might be another of those Supermarket price war games.

very decent analogy imo. COD is incredibly fast paced and aims to be realistic reflecting that one bullet can kill.

HALO isnt realistic at all and is much more like quake in that somebody can survive a rocket launcher to the face.

Yeah but if that was totally true all the quick scopers would be on halo doing 720 banshee snipes.

I know what you mean though mate. Ive been playing halo 3 and odst all day played mw2 with the usuals for a bit and with the up in fps at first thought my eyes were gona melt.

Just pre-ordered it for £27.04

I was going to wait for release reviews first, but £27 has swayed it for me

Nice one, I was going to wait a while for it to drop in price but like you say at that price it's hard to pass up, so I got my preorder in too. :D as for reviews you know it's going to score probably 90%+ almost everywhere and 9/10's simply because its Halo, plus the previews i've been reading seem to praise it an awful lot.

Just placing a pre-order but undecided on which version to get. What is the Elite Armor that comes with the Limited edition, is it just looks or does it give a boost in stats or something ?

the elite armor that you get with the limited edition, is the officer armor (i think) which you see in the game, but you cant use it unless you have the limited

The 9th isn't the release date in the USA.

It's on Tuesday the 14th like most of the rest of the world. It's also the reason why we are getting it on a Tuesday, because it's a simultaneous worldwide release and in America they release their new games on a Tuesday.

When it's not a simultaneous release, we usually get our new games on Friday, much like it has always been in the past.
