Hi all,

Just wondering how best to backup my desire and remove anything that I wouldn't want carphone warehouse to be looking through? The camera plays up and so I'm taking it back there tomorrow for repair or whatever it is they will do with it. (Camera goes to halves and then goes a weird blue purple colour)

Thanks for any help :)

Then factory data reset. You can format the SD card from there too.

Hey mate,

I want to keep whats on the sd card as it has pictures and other bits and pieces I can't get back.

Also, somewhat concerned about the apps I've downloaded, I'm guessing its best to make a good list of them and just download again when I get the handset back?

You could download titanium backup and use that to backup your apps. Never really used it though.

To back up your SD card, just plug it into the PC and use the usb device option. Then just move what you want off the card.

Keep the SD card, that doesn't need to be sent for repair.
Write down any applications, and if you can, connect your phone to a PC to back up any data.
All data is usually wiped when it goes in for repair.

:)

I use MyBackup Pro for backup (you don't have to buy it as it's on a 30 day trial). Factory reset to clear the phone.

Theres a program called something like "SMS Backup and Restore" which does what it says, copy the contents of your SD card manually and then just format. As long as you have your contacts in Google you wont really lose anything.

In situations like this its nice sometimes to start from scratch, and see what apps you are missing when you come to need them.
