Virgin or BT Infinity?

Hahah yeah.

Ok... now. If I go with virgin tv for the year it would be £755.88. If I went for virgin bb, and sky @ half price for 6 months it would be £728.88 for the year.

What is virgin tv like compared to sky tv?
 
What about tele?

Maybe a mod can move it to the home cinema forum, or shall i start a new thread?
 
Never had a problem with my Virgin package over the last 2 years, highly recommended!

It might just be me, but I have a great dread/hatred of BT. Not sure why, but all dealings I've had with them in the past have been very painfull, along with their service.

Bring back Busby!!! :D
 
I've had Infinity for just over a month.

Unfortunately the area I live has no cable or that would have been first option.

But I have to say the BT product has been great, the FUP increase has also been great although unexpected.
Pings for online games are great so I wouldn't let that put you off.

When I ran the speed checker it estimated 25mb connection and the actual is the full 40mb.

I reckon the speed checker is a bit conservative so as to avoid disappointment for the buyer.
 
Well in my opinion i would go for Virgin Cable internet, I have the 50MB internet package
with virgin and i always get at least 48MB.

I have never liked bt for the fact you go on a 8MB package and end up with 2 due to the
length of your line etc etc.....

BT Infinity takes into account the distance to the green cabinet. Not the distance to your exchange.

That's the whole issue with BT and their network.
I used to work for Zen internet and the ISP generally get's it in the neck which is down to BT's poor copper network.
Blame Margret Thatcher, back in the 80'S BT wanted to lay fibre when Nynex laid it and she said NO. Otherwise we would have had a good network.
 
Changed to BT Infinity about 3 weeks ago and its been brilliant so far.

If you go for BT Infinity option 2 then their fair usage policy now kicks in at 300GB. If you go over this limit you will find your connection limited at peak times (last email I got on ADSL was that cap would be 1Mb) for 30 days.

Latency has been fine - I had a few issues on ADSL when playing WOW (random disconnects/spikes) but since the Infinity has gone in I've had no problems at all.

May be slightly out as I just got these by using remote desktop from work into my WHS which is sitting on my home wireless network.

I hit 100gig a couple of times on ADSL when that was their limit but I have 3 kids (2 of which seem to spend 1/2 their life streaming youtube videos). 300gig seems pretty fair to me.
