Derren Brown - Hero at 30,000 feet

Derren is actually quite an amazing individual, but the last two TV stunts he has done I feel are really hurting his credibility.

Go to one of his live shows instead, that's where you see his true genius.

I agree. I'd rather see him investigating people who claim special pwoers like fraudulent mediums again, or even making shows about the old days of magic (Hellstromism and so on). He is fascinating, though. Great artist too.

Everyone is saying fake, but fake in what way? Have you read Derrens twitter posts over the last 24 hours? So Matt and his family were actors? Does nobody rememver The Heist that Derren did, was a very similar thing.

Yes, and quite terrible ones at that. He usually gets ones that are at least competent and so there is an essence of doubt (such as the Heist) but last nights program was nothing short of horrendous television. Although saying that, some of my more 'simple' friends found it to be rather excellent, suppose there's no accounting for taste :D

It's funny that you attribute stupidity in that way, as I would suggest stupidity stems from believing that a multi millionaire entertainer who has been performing for years would hire a family of actors (who are never going to get another gig in their lives without blowing cover) to perform a stunt that he could get any suggestible person to do. He must have paid those hundreds of different actors in the last 10 years a lot of money for not one of them to have come forward! Especially seeing as a newspaper would probably pay the individual double for the story

Sure, your friends are the stupid ones ;)

At no point did I call any one of my friends 'stupid'. For that reason, I deem your entire argument invalid, good day. ;)

p.s. you have to be kidding me right? They were all actors. Nop, not even 'a family of actors'...just plain old shoddy actors. I'm actually beginning to think that they hired such poor ones to make it seem, to certain viewers, that they were genuine random members of the public. Brown is a trickster, his skills are in tricking us, the viewer, to believe what we are seeing is real. Not the other way around.

He is very very good and it, usually. Last nights wasn't.

If you're simple you might think that, sure. But the reality is that he doesn't trick you to believe what you see. That's what psychic mediums and ghost hunters do. He asks you how he did it, constantly. He TELLS you it's not real when it's not real. That's Derren Brown's entertainment value. Apparently your answer to it is he uses actors. Others have slightly more intelligent and respectful answers.
