charged the bank £30 for wasting my time .... and they paid up

Recently I had a credit card limit reduced to within an inch its life. I only noticed by logging into the online banking. A couple of weeks later, they sent a letter telling me that they had done this. I didn't have any plans to use it but it's not a pleasant thought that I could have travelled somewhere intending to use the card to pay for a hotel. Or just relied on it in some other important way. There is a balance on it but everything is upto date with the card. After doing some googling, it seems that the people who pay off in full etc get targeted by this. I'm not one of those people either, I'm just a typical customer.

Im sure its because banks do not believe in compensation, so he had to diguise it somehow to let the payment go through.

lol can I ask exactly how you worded it please :D

i don't have the letter now im afraid. it was short and sweet....

Dear Sir or Madame....

I'm very disappointed because ... blah blah blah

in true bank fashion i will be charging you £30 for this letter and my wasted time... blah blah blah

Nice balance, you need to be more generous with the black squiggles :p

banks used to always try and charge me during my early 20's when i was not so great with cash, today i complained about having my card cancelled for no reason and added at the bottom "I'm charging you in true bank style £30 for wasting my time" i had a phone call and the £30 paid in... very pleased and thought i would share the love... you're all invited around for milk and cookies

Joke's on you because what the bank did wasn't legal and could have been prosecuted for much much more.
