Hi guys,

I'm thinking of upgrading my 4870 (which I also suspect may be faulty...), would I notice any real change with the 5770? I don't really want to go too much over £150 so the 5770 does seem to be the obvious choice :)

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

Nope, those cards are pretty much on par with each other. Just the 5770 has the added bonus of being DX11 compatible!

Right, so I probably need to spend a bit more then...

What would you recommend? I'm on a 22" monitor, running at 1680*1050.

Cheers.

Wouldn't you be better of with GTX 460 768mb as the price is about the same if not cheaper than the 5770 and it should be a tad quicker.

If you can stretch and are willing to go with nvidia, this would be a nice boost from a 4870, even more so if you overclocked it.

If you are sticking with ATI, your only option for £150 is the 5770, but for that money pick up an overclocked version such as the XFX one.

5770 is a dx11, lower power use sidestep from a 4870. I don't know why anyone is buying cards at the moment unless you absolutely need to given that the 6 series will be announced officially on the 12th of october with a possile release on the 25th.

Definately wait a couple of weeks and see what turns up from the 6xxx series.

What kind of problems are you having with it? Maybe RMA?
