"Screaming children will not be tolerated!"

The 1,2.... works a treat! My girlfriends 2yr old can be a mardy bum sometimes though, it's the old I'm going to do the opposite of everything you say. I cannot stand screaming in general, or then the parents screeching back at the kids too. Although I would love to say they never are out of line when out, but sometimes kids are kids and they can do your head in!
I'd imagine most people saying "good - drown them as well etc" do not have kids themselves :P
 
Kids are kids, if they feel the rage then there is just about no parent in the world who can stop it happening.

My kids tend to be fairly well behaved but i also appreciate that they are kids and they are not just robots who are pre programmed to be polite, sit still, only interact when spoken to first...many people seem to forget this and that they were kids too.

Even the most well behaved kids have off days, as do adults, and to be fair some adults are worse than most kids.

The plane example is a good one, yes it isnt nice listening to a child playing up on the plane, but its even worse sitting behind an ignorant old sod who insists on having their seat reclined, or sat behind a very large person who does the same....dont get me started on the idiots who are blatantly drunk on a plane.

People need to understand that children do this, regardless. Stop being so pathetic and deal with it.

Seen adults do worse things than annoying children. Most of the worst kiddy offenders are because the kids parents are crap parents, not because the kid is the problem. If they allow the kid to run around blame the parent.

If it's a baby/kid crying or screaming, then sorry, that's life. Learn to get out more, or just use a restaurant in Cali :p

Mcdonalds is for kids no serious person goes to McDonalds for a quiet meal :D
half of them even have playgrounds in them....

True but I would always take my kid outside of a restaurant to have a talk if he started kicking off, I'd forgo my dinner which I've had to do but my son also knows that me missing dinner means he'll be missing some treat later on as well and usually taking a child away from the scene helps 99% of the time.
 
Good. There's nothing worse than a lone screaming child that is absolutely dominating the place. It literally affects everyone's conversations and just makes us feel all awkward.

I've seen signs in pubs and restaurants here that say 'This establishment welcomes well behaved kids' which isn't so different really but is the more intelligent, positive-spin way of doing it.

I'm all for it BTW :)

In most cases, adults causing more disturbance than a kid would most likely be kicked out completely.

In this case, no one is blaming the children anymore than they are blaming the parents. They simply ask for parents to take their kids outside if they are screaming to calm them down, which is a very reasonable request.

Wholeheartedly agree and i have done the same thing myself on a few occassions.

this kind of highlights the actual problem though doesnt it, kids are kids and have an infinite amount of rage, as parents it is how you deal with the rage that is the important aspect....some people deal with it quickly and efficiently, some people just do not handle it well at all.
 
It's even worse when kids start running round the restaurant, or playing with the furniture and the parents just sit there like nothing is happening. Kids ought to be banned from restaurants entirely. They can go to Maccy D's instead.

That's a bit too harsh. This echoes the short chat I had with vonhelmet before, families with well behaved kids should be given a chance. Why shouldn't good kids be allowed to have a nice meal?

Well, to every kid, Mcdonalds is the yummiest nicest food ever made, and it comes with toys! :p

Also, their parents can always cook them a nice meal, or just order a takeaway and let them eat them at home.

TBH though, well behaved kids, and parents that do anything about a disruptive kids behavior are getting increasingly rarer nowadays.
