ECU for Civic Type R worth it?

and breath,

does the fact you've owned multiple hondas affect the £/pBHP ratios of the k100 ecu? I didnt ask for a history of cars you've been lucky enough to have owned, quite what relevance that has when we are debating the cost effectiveness of a mod I'm still unsure

my little jab at toyotas reliability was purely aimed at you and your unreliable car as your attitude in your last post added you to my gaydar detector.

you may continue

My car is unreliable because it needed a battery just makes me lol at how much you actually know about cars in general

OP ignore the moron, go to CTRO or civiclife, ask about VTEC controllers and K-Pro and you'll get all the info need. Only person in this thread thats posted a response worth taking on board is sovietspybob, he obviously knows his stuff

No its not, its common knowledge that they are crap, have a read up

How do you mean crap?

a lot of times the VTEC switch point, which varies on ECU's between a fixed rpm point and a load against speed algorithm on other, is slightly later than the point that offers a smooth and maximum switch onto the high cam loads.

This is possible simply due to Honda wanting to emphasise the switch point and emphasise the VTEC experience.

Ive seen this on a few cars Ive mapped on the dyno. My Integra was changed to 4600 rather than 4800 for this very reason, I was chasing peak tractive effort, not VTEC y0'ness.

Maybe you should stop reading (and stop suggesting other people do) and actually go try some of this stuff out.

Frankly I dont like your tone on this forum, and thats rich coming from me :p

I've only had two Hondas in the last 6 years.... i lose I guess?

Do something about it? From your name I guess you're the same age as me, why are you pulling playground lines like that? On that note, I will, right from now. Expect regularly disections of your posts where you will need to provide fact to some of this conjecture and BS you keep pulling.

good advice only because by definition it nullifies your drivvel :p

for the record I don't like being called a moron and shall take offence should you personally offend me again :)

You are probably the first person i've come across thats ever posted anything positive about them. If you dont like my tone do something about it?

I dont think your understood?

Crap for who?

Ricers?
Honda sales and marketing?
People after max performance?

Crap is a subjective word. Hence its a crap word to use ;)

Then maybe you shouldnt slate someones car that you have no experiance of what so ever referring to it as unreliable just because its had a battery, thats just ridiculous. In fact why do I even let it wind me up you obviously, along with a few other people on here, have no idea what you are talking about if you think a dead battery makes a car unreliable. Apologies anyway, I shouldnt take it to heart when its obvious you're looking to cause a problem and I drive my car everyday and know for a fact there is nothing wrong with it

I'll do what I want thank you, whilst obviously abiding by the rules and regulations of the forum, this is quality friday afternoon banter for which I'm being paid to enjoy :)

forgive me if I mention it but didn't your car recently go back into the garage with a gearbox issue? An issue which if im not mistaken I (not exclusively) diagnosed as you weren't very knowledgeable about such things (start the ironing)

So that makes:
a) me arguably more knowledgable than you
b) your claim about your cars lone reliability issue incorrect

You diagnosed a gearbox problem on my car? I'm sorry you what? Are you for real?

Get a grip and step away from the keyboard

I'm not getting involved but I do remember you saying the car had to go back to the original garage then onto a Toyota garage for a gearbox whining problem/noise?

It didnt make it in a specific gear it made it in all gears but one more than the others, saying you diagnosed a fault on my car over the internet is absolutely insane, the car went in and came back as I wanted it looking at whilst it was still under warranty, what has this got to do with this thread, I dont understand why we are talking about my car? You have never seen it, never been in it, never heard it, to say you diagnosed a fault with it is just mental, I think you have some issues that need addressing, are you even a mechanic!?

He didn't diagnose anything  He repeated what you had said - if anything you had diagnosed it to be a gearbox fault before it went into the garage. Are you even a mechanic?

I think you really are losing the plot a bit here and snapping at everything

I'd give up now if I was you

for the record you keep jabbering on about your car, some sort of insecurity issue regarding it?

what would you call correctly identifying a problem, i think diagnosing is a pretty good choice of word,

R"what's wrong with my car it whines when i drive"
W"its probably the gearbox"
R"I took the car into the garage they reckon its a gearbox problem"

its not exactly murder she wrote

meanwhile back on planet mugen.....
