GTX 470 + GTX 260 Physx Query

Now have a GTX 465 flashed to a 470, was playing Mafia II and was wondering if my system would cope with a 260 GTX (old card) as a Physx card.

My system specs are in sig, but im unsure if my Corsair 620w PSU will cope with the extra power draw. I know a 260 GTX is a bit ott as a Physx card, but will try it if you guys think its safe.

Might give my 260 GTX to my brother if not, nab the 8800gt from his system as thats probably less ott, will allow him to run games bit smoother, and probably good enough for Physx.

Also, my psu only has 2x 6 PCI-E connectors, is it ok to use molex to 6 pin convertors and power through that way?

Mafia 2 physx is not worth using a dedicated card for, and you will only gain a few FPS over using the 470 to do physx, I say sell on the 260. As for the PSU, I would never recommend using molex to power two PCI_E connectors.

I use(d) a GTX470 + GTX260 for mafia 2 and having the GTX260 certainly made it smoother when actually playing (tho not a massive difference in the benchmark). Infact I'll try getting some frametime graphs later of the benchmark with it on and off.

Not sure if a GTX260 is necessary tho or if the 8800GT would do just as well. The difference isn't massive tho comparing a single GTX470 to using a GTX470 + additional card.

Similar question here. I've just got the gtx465 and plan to flash to gtx470 plus a waterblock and I already have a gtx9800+ with waterblock as my physx card with my 5850 which obviously makes a big difference.

Worth keeping my gtx9800+ or sell it on?

Heres mafia 2 benchmark running 1680x1050 all settings maxed:

I need to put some better indicators on for reading the framerate :S but as you can see not a huge difference except at the start (I'm guessing here the physx simulation is "stabalising" which pushes down fps on the 470 on its own) but a lot less framerate variation with an extra card in there for physx.

Have you not played the limited number of physx titles to death already? sell it on IMO.

But I beleive the hype.....it's coming, I know it is.....the must have game which makes full use of physx and needs it's own card.......they wouldn;t lie to us surely?......they spend millions advertising physx.....please tell me your wrong? :p

There is one more big name title coming that will use PhysX enough to need a GPU for the highest setting and I'm assuming the new Batman game will use it like the previous one as well but I've not checked.

Sell the GTX260 and put the money toward something worthwhile.

Believe it or not someone's just bought my old GTX 280 on the bay for £133 to run as a Physx unit alongside dual 5970s
