The man with a forest in his garden

I think thats bizarre to see....but nothing wrong or illegal. It seems to me the people with the problems are those whinging.

I can understand if it blocks light from neighbours but if it does not leave the man alone...lol

not strictly true
not sure but I think you're not allowed to do anything that blocks light to a house? also those roots could cause issues with the foundations and the needles would be a pain for the grass next door.

The height is one thing, but surely the main issue here is that with the size of the thing, the roots are going to be under his house and his neighbors houses and are eventually going to reek havoc and damage the structures.

Can't imagine the roots are doing nice things to any sewerage nearby either.

Silly neighbours should have been sticking copper nails in the damn things for years now.

I can't find it anymore but you should have seen the fence/wall that he had before, it was massive.

Also I am very surprised that the council has very little interest in helping the residents over there but due to the recent publicity I am sure something will be done soon.

I'm in the process of applying for home insurance. One of the questions is to do with particularly tall trees within a certain vicinity of my home. I'd be pretty cross if a neighbour suddenly grew a massive tree in the garden, and ended up pushing my premiums up.

This one is in plymouth, the bloke is a bit strange...

I think it's now at the final chance at arbitration stage before he gets ordered to cut it down.

I just laughed, I must admire his ...approach really. I think the tree looks nicer than the houses around it tbh, they look awful ...the one to the right and the yellowish one are a real eyesore, they look tatty and grim ...put some bars on the windows and they'd have been right at home in East Germany.

The only really legitimate issue I see there is the tree roots, the next door neighbours have every right to be worried about those. Or the possibility of the tree damaging other houses due to it's size in a storm perhaps.

Eyesore though ...I don't think so, just look at the state of those houses ...they are the eyesore.

All the guy needs to do is tell the Council that there is a Yellow Spotted Great Crested Six-Toe Tree Newt (Or something..) living in the Tree, not only would they not chop it all down they'd probably throw him £12K a Year to keep it like that for the ****ing Newt.
