Is anyone running a GTX460 on PCIe 2.0 at 8* rather than 16*, and any idea what the performance impact is, just want to know as considerineg a desktp with a 760i on a ASUS P7P55D E and understand in order to use USB3.0 and Sata 6Gbs properly you have to drop the PCIe slot for the graphics card to 8*.

Any input appreciated.

Aslong as its PCI-e 2.0 @ x8 there will be no performance impact at all. If its PCI-e 1.x @ x8 then you will see 10-15% performance drop off the top end and slightly slower loading times.

wow  so to have usb 3.0 you have to Sacrifice your pcie 2.0 wow, is that a bios problems or just limitation of the board controller??

that is the first time i heard about that, if you overclocking
you get problems... which is understandable

Basically, the P55 chipset/CPUs only has/have 16 PCI-E lanes. It is the mainstream socket for a reason I guess!
