£10,500 isn't too bad - the car isn't new. Someone else has already paid for the £12,000 of depreciation that this car has suffered.

I've done plenty of reserch and the diesel is better *quicker* if you call that better. We wanted a family car so we dont intend on ripping up the roads etc. We replaced a Astra SXI 1.9 CDTI. I'm not sure what the difference will be in the drive, I will find out on Thursday. The reason we didn't test drive was we arrived at 5:00pm and managed to negotiate the car from £13500 to £10500 with a £50 deposit. That wasn't easy and took time!

All the reviews I have read say the 2.0 diesel is just right but the 1.8 petrol is a little underpowered making the car feel heavy. Could you let me know how it is please as I plan to purchase an insignia shortly & due to reviews I havent even given the 1.8 a look.

I'd be wondering why they accepted an offer 25% off asking. Either you are a great haggler or they wanted shot of it.
