its a friends birthday, and to celebrate we are going out in Alice in Wonderland Fancy dress... i got stuck with going as the Cheshire cat. now for the life of me i can't think how to dress up as a purple and pink stripey cat!?! why i wouldnt go as something sensible i dont know :-/

anyways, if anyone has any ideas i'd love to hear them... i've scowled google but having no luck. thanks

Wear purple & pink stripes and get your teeth bleached? Great if you're in a club with UV lighting. Aside from that, fancy dress shops are bound to have a respectable costume, complete with ears, a tail & possibly whiskers (which you can also falsify with eyelash glue and bristles form a yard broom, though they're extremely itchy and you'll likely knock them off trying to squeeze your head into a milk bottle).

Get two tshirts, one pink and one purple. Put one on, and then cut out strips in the other one. Place over, you'll have a stripey look. Primark is your friend for fancy dress costumes.

Face paint for the face, a tail can be made out of a rolled up pillow case, and clipper together. Cover in cotton wool and spray paint to get the right texture and colour.

Also, if you're not a girl, it probably won't be your night. Girls look good in cat costumes. Guys do not. There weren't any pirates in Alice in Wonderland, were there?

Go buy two purple and pink horizontally striped hoodies (would think womens clothing shops will probably have these) - use one to make parts i.e ears and sew them onto the hood, tail and sew that to the bottom of the hoody,

Borrow a girlfriends makeup pencils for the whiskers and black nose on your face.

Legwise - problem - unless you're actually a girl you're probably not going to look good in pink and purple striped leggings.

You could wear some pink tracksuit bottoms and trainers, or go for the scally look - black adidas tracksuit bottoms and battered trainers, then claim you live in Runcorn and are in fact the Shamless Cheshire cat :)

Recently did this, me and my mate went as tweedledee and tweedledum. Red tights, yellow top, white t-shirt to create the cravat thing, blue bow tie done. A friend went as the cat, she had a awesome costume, with the face paint, paint a smiling mouth on instead of using your own. Looks freaky but works well.

I'd go for the leggings myself, though you should be able to find a pink pair of trousers which you could wear. You could also do what you're doing with the top half if you find two shades of pink trousers. Failing that, just colour in the stripes on pink trousers. I bought a pair of pink trousers from Primark, and indeed a pink tshirt last time I needed pink. Was less than a tenner for both.
(I LOVE fancy dress! :D)
