Hi all,

Father in-law gave me a 4.1 surround sound set of speakers ages ago and only ever used the front 2 speakers as I've never been interested in sound. Anyway, thought I'd try and get the best out of it and get them set up and drilled to the walls to get the 'surround sound' experience.

Motherboard is Asus Rampage 2 Extreme and I got a SupremeFX X-FI sound card with it. I've installed sound max and sound blaster like it said in the manual, these by the way are the latest driver releases for W7 64bit from ASUS site.

Anyway, as it says in the thread's title, got nothing coming out of the rear even when I select 4.1 in sound blaster settings. Well I get a slight noise like it's trying to but muffled.

Anyone got any solutions for me? Not good with sound at all. I've tried running the rear speakers as front and they work perfectly so I know they're not damaged.

Thanks again,

RoEy

Having said that when playing music it doesnt seem to be as prominent in the rear speakers as the front. Is this normal and the rears act as add effects etc. like in movies? All should they all be the same volume?

Anyone?

Most music is stereo as standard. You need to upmix it to 4 channel if you want it to come from all four speakers.
