Noctua D14/Thermal right silver arrow

I've read that these 2 coolers are so big they can obstruct ram with tall heatspreaders. Which of them offers more clearance and what ram sticks are confirmed to have enough room with them?

If it makes a difference it would be for a Socket 1156 board, not sure which board yet.

Picture of clearance with the Silver Arrow: http://www.vortez.co.uk/contenttell...alright_silver_arrow_cpu_cooler_review,5.html

And one with the Noctua: http://www.vortez.co.uk/contentteller/articles_pages/noctua_nh_d14_cpu_cooler_review,6.html

The Noctua will have less of an issue since the 120mm fan at the front can be shifted upwards, so some RAM with tall heatsinks could fit. Someone on here managed to fit the Patriot Vipers but Noctua has a page on this on their website.

With the Silver Arrow, you can move the front fan to the back instead but then you'd have to make sure it's not conflicting with the chipset cooling. In its default configuration, only modules with small heatsinks will fit and you can't move the fan to accommodate for larger ones.

Jesus christ that all looks like more trouble then it's worth. Are there any other top coolers that don't give these problems? I don't mind sacrificing a few C's as i won't tearing the arse off the cpu, just want something quiet.

You could get the Silver Arrow and just use the middle fan and it'll still be better than most other coolers. Otherwise there's the Cogage arrow or the Thermalright Venomous X.
