virgin 20mb or 50mb?

Done it.

Got 50mb being installed next Wednesday. I've said I don't want the modem running wireless though, I just want it hard wired like my current one is.

Don't like wireless, call me daft but have a small child and don't like the thought of it being on near him.

I can have it with no wireless can't I?

The guy on the phone said there still is a fair usage policy. You sure I'll be able to download at full speed whenever I want without them capping speed after 3gb like it does on 20mb? 9am-9pm 3gb limit then speed goes down from 2400kb/s to 500kb/s

Yeah which is what I thought seeing as some on here are saying they can download non stop without cap. Just my luck they'll change that soon and now I'm signed up for 12 months. Just frustrating on 20mb as I can't really download till after 9pm.

Some people have apparently gotten letters from VM. However, one guy that complained is also the guy that boasted that he would torrent all day everyday saying he downloading a couple hundred GB a day.

Just remeber when you get the 50 Mbs service to run tcp optimiser and set it around the 65Mbs mark here is a link for it.

It's been annoying me too. Gonna have 50mb at my uni house though, included with the rent

Pointless faffing around with QoS, packet sizes, jumbo packets and what not.. Get a real network THEN do it.

For the man on the street... Install network card, install driver. DONE

That would imply the user has either Windows XP or has been messing around with the settings already.

You shouldn't need to use TCP Optimizers on Windows 7 because it automatically does it for you.

Just plug 'n' play, simple.

phewww, glad all of that got sorted. I thought it would just be plug and play. Got W7 Pro 64bit. Will be great if I can get more han 50mb too. Just hope VM contiue to let 50mb users download full speed 24/7.
