22" monitor which one?

LED is LCD btw - the LED part is just the backlight. Standard monitors just advertised as "LCD" will use a CCFL baclkight. The edge-lit LED backlights offer benefits with lower energy use and allow for thinner screens - but for image quality they are generally no better than CCFL.

As for a gaming 1920x1080 22in, do you have a budget it mind? This BenQ 24in monitor is generally well regarded for gaming, but if you want super fluid gaming then a 120Hz monitor is the top dog, however they do command a price premium.

Hiya

I had a look at the benq but 24" is too big for my setup. My budget is £170 ish. I'm quite tempted by the LG Flatron. IS this a good buy?

If you have a look on my website (link at bottom of page) we have a little bit about it in the 'top 10 monitors' section. You can also find some good user reviews of it which certainly seem to be positive. I would also recommend the Samung B2230H. Having used it (briefly) myself I found the build quality and overall image quality far outclasses other monitors of that price range.

You may also want to consider a refurbished 2209WA. The resolution is only 1680x1050, but it uses a high quality E-IPS panel, deals with games wonderfully and the aspect ratio is 16:10 - so the viewing area is larger than standard 16:9 22in monitors. You should be able to find one of these for on budget (or a slight bit over).

Thanks for the input. Both have pretty much similar prices..so which one would you go for if primary use was gaming and watching movies? (LG has a lower response time).
 
It's difficult for me to say as I haven't tested the LG yet. I wouldn't look too much into the response time really - how this is measured and what this means in reality is questionable. The Samsung B2230H I used was every bit as good as most 2ms panels I've used. I think Samsung have really good response time compensation algorithms and I certainly rate the B2230H for entertainment purposes due to the response time. I think you will be happy with either monitor though. I wish I'd used the 2261VP myself to give a proper comparison.
