i think probably like mine is waiting to renew on 16th. you can check status in membership info

The 12 months would start as soon as your current sub runs out, then you would get charged for the following year automatically when the time comes.

You can turn auto renewal off on Xbox.com. So people saying you are "tied" in are wrong. Just go to your account settings on xbox.com and set it to off after it has renewed.

I bought it and got gold within seconds, just had to log out and in again. I still don't have the avatar thing though if that's what you mean.

Actually this is why I won't do it which is a bummer really as I need live but I refuse to give MS my CC details, last time I had to report my CC stolen so MS wouldn't bill me.

Great! Mine will auto renew and charge my card £23.99 in Feb 2011...

Bargain.

Don't care about the auto renewal, I just buy a 12 Month card before it runs out, and redeem the code before the auto renewal (you get a email a few days before it renews anyway), rather than paying £40 to MS I paid £26 last time.
