So I moved here from Australia in July and am not sure what to expect from the winter here. This can also be a spec me a winter clothing thread as well, what sorts of clothing will I want for the winter and where should I go to look from them? I'm not uber poor but wanting to keep most of my monies for travelling so don't rule out primark! :D

I have a hoodie, but I don't think this will be enough will it? Also my main concern is a decent wet-weather jacket to wear with my work gear to and from work.

Get a dustbin liner bag, cut two armholes and 1 for your head. Look like an American tourist and stay dry.

The summer here is almost as bad as the winter back home :S

Really not looking forward to the biting cold, and also I've been told the 5 hours of daylight...clearly not enough, I don't want to be going to and from work in the dark, thats just ****, with nothing to do outside of work apart from drink...

Uhm I have like a 10 min walk to the tube station, can eb a 1 min walk to the bus stop, and then like a 2 min walk from chancery lane to my work.

Work gear is shirt, tie and pants. Although no tie atm.

will definately need a fleece of some sort, then a waterproof jacket to go over that. Then a scarf is a must, then hat and gloves, and of course 3 layers of socks, long johns, all that.

Basically just cover yourself as much as you can and youll be fine:)

Come on old chap trousers, not pants. You are in the mother country now respect her language. God save the Queen.

You'll need more than just pants in the winter. In fact, you'll need more than just pants at anytime of the year, no matter what climate you're in.

(language barrier sarcasm intended)

I'd suggest a thick black overcoat (primark or matalan) and an umbrella. Bowler hat optional :)

It won’t be 5 hours, on average November/February 9 hours and December/January 8 hours daylight.

A good overcoat or fleece jacket, a woollen hat, gloves and a scarf will see you through it.

London is normally a couple of degrees warmer than the other warmest place in the country, wherever that may be, due to pollution.

It rarely sneaks below zero in my experience.

<------not a hat person

might give the hat a miss if I can lol, appearance is everything!1!!
So I'm guessing singlet, stubbies and thongs are out of the question?

So the whole kit is really needed hey, scarf, gloves, layers upon layers upon layers.
I have thick socks already which is a bonus.
