Just watching Batman Returns on Sky 1 and it reminded me of the brilliant Animated series I used to watch as a kid. Mark Hamill as voice of the Joker etc.

I remembered the episode with Robins parents among others and I couldnt resist hitting a certain online DVD place to order..

Volume 1 The legend Begins
Volume 2 Tales of a Dark Knight
Volume 3 Out of the Shadows.

3 dvds for under 9 quid.

Cant wait !

Anyone else appreciate how mature and brilliantly voiced this old series was.

Just Googled to see if it was indeed the cartoons I watched, it was :) Sounds like a bargain!

On a side note Mark Hammill really hasn't aged well at all :p

Im the same but with the old spiderman cartoons (1994ish) ! I would love to watch the batman cartoons tho! Only saw a few of them but they were very well done compared to todays... nvm..i was aboout to sound like a grandad then lol

It was (actually, still is) a brilliant show, and was very close to the tone of the comics. They even took storylines from the adult-orientated Legends of the Dark Knight series that was running at the time.

If I remember rightly, Harley Quinn was also first introduced in the animated series, and was so popular she was brought over to the comics.

You should take a look at the new film that's just come out, Under the Red Hood. If anything it's a more mature version of the original series, excellent film.

Ye I have these, still watch them almost everyday while Im having my dinner.

One episode I like is about a gang war and batman helps one of the leaders onto a better path to save his son who is in a drug rehab clinic. Its very emotional, great voice acting and the music sets the mood well.

The episode with robins parents is also very sombre.

This is the best 10 quid ive spent in a long time. fantastic hangover TV!

loving them, also have the red hood to watch.

awesome

Ive got Vol. 1 Vol. 2, Batman vs catface or something, Batman vs 2 face, and batman and robin on VHS (cartoon ones).
I used to live off them in my early years :D

I watched Under The Red Hood last night and it was absolutely fantastic, I think Ive just discovered a new love for Batman.

These cartoons are brilliant, I think almost anyone would enjoy them.

As mentioned earlier, you should look at the Justice League show too. Other animated ones worth watching are New Frontier, Superman/Batman - Apocalypse and Gotham Knights

I will do mate thanks, how do they compare to under the red hood?

The Justice League series is totally comparable to the Batman cartoon, same high quality, pretty much the same cast.

Superman/Batman - Apocalypse is good, you might need some DC history first though (Wikipedia Darkseid and Big Barda)

New Frontier is excellent, it's set in the 50s. Awesome b/c-list cast as well.

Gotham Knights is brilliant, it's similar to Animatrix - 5 (I think) different stories, all by different writers/animators.

Wikipedia has also reminded me about Superman: Doomsday which is also pretty good.

Bruce Timm yay. :D
