yeah me again!

fell asleep in the bath, just having a shocker of a week! bathroom floor flooded, slight tear in downstairs ceiling and light fixture buzzing with small drops coming through... (light turned off using a misses rubber *****)

any advice apart from don't fall asleep in the bath?

Similar happened to us a few months back when the water tank sprung a leak in the loft.

Once it had all dried up the light was fine so that wasn't an issue. We claimed on the house insurance, they sent someone round who decided that the ceiling was bowed enough to need a replaster. The affected plaster was cut away, new stuff put on to replace it, and then the ceiling repainted.

Hopefully that's of help as to how you can sort it.

You can fall asleep in the bath, but just wait until you've turned the tap off!

my week has been that bad im falling asleep walking, im lucky i have a lovely wife (married 5 weeks) who just said oops it happens :)

seriously though? just let it dry out ? or do i need to call someone, i have no desire to turn the light switch on!

Some how I missed the part about your misses ***** first time I read it. :o

I had to read it twice.... for a minute I thought you turned the light off using a *****! LOL :D

Good quick thinking there to grab the nearest insulating item to hand to switch it off. Hold on, what was it doing so close to hand? ;):D

sorry but what can you do when it all goes **** up = make a joke

the best bit was

The misses - "what shall we do, quick call someone"
Me - "i will post on a forum"

Yeah probably best to leave it to dry by itself. If you want to speed it up you can just turn the heating up, or if you have an electric heater of any kind just set it up below the light (not sure how much difference it will actually make though).

I work for a property maintenance company, we get EOW (escape of water) claims all the time from insurance companies and they are all usually covered but it depends if you have accidental damage cover etc.

If you do claim, which is recommended! They will most probably rip some or all of your ceiling down in the room below and because the new plaster and skim will damage your walls, they will also be forced to re-decorate your walls! Nice eh? :) And if the bathroom flooring and skirtings are damaged they will replace those too. I work for the contractors so now how it all works
