ken blocks got a new toy

Hang on, I know this point has been addressed to a degree, but 0-60 in 1.9 secs is surely impossible.
Even with the immense amounts of torque and bhp (not to mention boost) he still has to change gear at least once (seeing as they are short gear ratios) and there is no way he can move fast enough to get to 60 that fast when the rest of factors such as drag is added in . . .?

(P.S. Dont flame me if Im wrong xD I've only passed recently and while I like to think I know a fair bit about cars Im no genius and others are bound to know far more)

it uses a bespoke motorsport sequential gearbox, it will change gear in milliseconds, not seconds.

Combine that with antilag that keeps the turbo at full boost for the lift off, 650bhp and probably some nice non road legal slicks, its not hard to understand

330bhps worth of '97 Impreza Rally car did it in 3.5 seconds on road tyres.

Worth bearing it in mind.

Awesome video. Quite agile little Fiesta, that :p

Look at how much Colin kicked Pastranas bottom during the X-games, Colin almost went on to win despite rolling the car on the last corner, these fake rally drivers have no idea :p

McRae X Games
Legend. RIP

worth noting that the barabus tkr is a road legal car that can do 0-60 in under 2 seconds

people still slating his WRC ? at the end of the day he started driving for fun during his mid life and has only been racing competitively at high levels for 5 years. he consistently came top 5 in rally america for years

first year in europe may not of gone amazingly well but he's competing against europeans who have been rallying since they where in nappies and who race those rallies ever year.

i could agree with the stick if he was waltzing about claiming to be some kind of god but he doesnt. hes very humble about it and is blatantly only there for the fun of it.

Dont get us wrong

We're not advocating that he's rubbish or so boring that its not worth watching.

But the first video was so fresh, and so well rehearsed you came away from it thinking he was some kind of driving god. All the scandanavian flicks were spot on, every powerslide perfect, you wondered if the guy was human.

But this video isnt as fresh anymore, we've seen it all before, and presumably due to it being done abroad with less practice etc.. its not nearly as polished either.

Its still hugely entertaining, and we dont doubt that the guy is an extremely talented rally driver. But the first gymkhana kind of gave off the vibe he was capable of being the best ever, rather than just Top 5 in america ...

So what if he clipped the barrier, it shows that he's human.
They could have filmed that bit again without him clipping it if they really wanted to

But I guess the best drivers in the world never crash. Like Mansell, Raikkonen, Alonso, Loeb, McRae, Mäkinen, Häkkinen, Button, Barichello, Hamilton, Burns, Grönholm, Kankkunen, Ickx, Senna...

Oh, wait.

That is another way of looking at it

They've taken a distinct editorial decision to show him not getting it perfect so as to reflect that he's human.

But its a different direction from the first video - which made no such effort and showcased perfection.

I think people just took it the wrong way, I can't ever remember him claiming to be the best in the world. The video was obviously edited and quite clearly aimed at advertising. Pretty sure he hit a wall in his last video too.

If people assumed he was a driving God from the video then it says more about the people than the video IMO.

Quite a while. He gets beaten regularly (Or did) by Travis Pastrana in the Rally America series and look how well Travis did when he tried out WRC. He rage quit (lol).

They can drive, but they can't hang with the Europeans on the rally stages I'm afraid.

Travis never finishes anything, he can't do it. He's got a lot of talent, but he still after all this time has no idea where his limit is :D

yes!

anwyay i thought the wall hit was a style thing :o or surely they would have just shot it again ? they do that sort of stuff a lot in lots of extreme sports videos. show people 'just' making gaps or stunts even though you know they could have just done it again for the camera easily

Thank you for the pointing that out, I had no idea.

Car is Epic & the vid is worth a watch, I do prefer more controlled driving though & hope he does better in the stages next year. At least the guy is a character & entertains.

his fiestas basically a duratec with some cossie bits and megasquirt and a huge turbo and cossie based drive train , good vids though i do like watching them
