OK grabbed a new single slot 5770 for my shuttle, well pleased as i can only have single slot due to size and been stuck on a bus powered 9800!

OK it seemed to run on High, but someone mentioned in the main thread about tweaking settings, also how do you see your frame rate? and what should i be aiming for?

wanted to post outside as main thread just moves to quick!

Download a program called FRAPS to see your fps, take screenshots, record gameplay etc.

If you overclock your 5770 a bit (keeping an eye on temps in that little case), you should be able to play everything on high with a bit of anisotropic filtering (2x/4x maybe) on at 1920x1080 res, or a bit higher with a lower res (although at lower res you'll want to turn on some antialiasing (AA) to get rid of jaggies. In an ideal world you want a solid 60fps, but that won't happen. It's quite a cpu hungry game so your cpu will come into play as a bottleneck if it isn't a decent quad or fast dual-core.

If you max it out the game looks beautiful but I also find I cant knuckle down and play it properly as Im too caught up in the stunningness.

Im actually considering dropping the settings down, making the game look "ugly" (if thats possible with this beauty) so I can get into it.

I got all set to high but turned HSAO off as it was blinding me.
1680x1050 40-60fps (framerate does dip a lot lower when I'm completely covered in smoke or explosions but that doesn't really bother me as I'm normally dead by then anyway;))

In your My Documents folder, there should be a file called 'BFBC2'.

All your settings are in there, in a file called 'settings.ini'.

You can open it in notepad. Just have a fiddle with the settings as you go but I would recommend setting bloom=false. It made a big difference for me.

does bloom get rid of the crap that you see floating around the level?
The most iritating thing for me (and I'm fairly sure it's client side) is on the snow and some sand levels where you get a mist that you can't see through but because it's client side they oppo can at that moment and get you while you're sitting there looking for your sunglasses/ski goggles. (I have no proof it's client side other than making me feel better when people kill me)

is dx11 not default for me then?

In your My Documents, within the BC2 folder, i think it's either gamesettings.ini or settings.ini, either one of those will have bloom in there [turn it off] and DirectX mode set to auto [unless you changed it], change the auto to 11 and you're good to go.

Edit: I'm using a 5970 and i put the graphics on low yesterday for the first time because the graphics in this game when set to max [for me] makes it really hard to spot people. I did a lot better despite i was using a tank.
