games never live up to their hype any more. i remember going into a game shop many years ago, not knowing anything about any new games at the time (before the internet took off). walked in and their display console/tv had driver on it. i played it for 5 minutes and was hooked. i bought the game there and then and played it solidly for many many months. it covered so much new ground and the game play was fantastic. they then ruined the series with sequels which never even matched the original never mind surpass it. this is what happens to a lot of games these days.
the only games i will now be buying are.
fifa/pes (whichever is better which has been now fifa for the past 2/3 years and will probably continue to be).
COD (every one has been good, what medal of honor used to be before EA took over).
UFC (this fulfils my 1 on 1 fighting needs, fight night used to so did tekken, but they are old hat and haven't evolved enough).
burnout (this is the new destruction derby, simply amazing).
these games will fulfil all my needs apart from racing sim which only gran turismo 1,2 and 3 fulfilled (after 3 it has been downhill and fast) and generally come out once a year and keep me busy for the whole year.
gran turismo hasn't evolved enough, if anything it has took a step back. you cant even tune your cars any more. winning a race to get enough money to buy a flywheel was exciting. seeing your BHP increase more and more was thrilling as you upgraded the stage of your turbo. now all you can do is buy your car and stick some slick tyres on it. or will this change in the new one?
all the other games just dont live up to expectations, apart from gears of war 2, i havent touched my 360 in over a few years and probably will never do so again.
i hate this new guitar hero, rock band, dj hero stuff, simply because i hate the music/instruments. also all the decent 1 player games are better on the PC.
