BMW 7 Series

Call me petty, but I'd really struggle to buy a car from someone who thought that V8 badge was a good idea...

Are those rear light clusters standard?

Looks a bit too Barry for my liking. I'd much rather go with something totally stock, but that's just preference.
FWIW, I think it's impossible to call the seats from that angle.

You could get them like that out of the factory, although the V8 goes underneath the numbers on the other side.

Um, no.

I know my thoughts too but it's a great colour combo, re the rear lights the facelift should have red lower parts and clear tops rather than the smoked on the this one, I'm feeling aftermarket upgrade or tinted, these arent major probs though the badge can be removed and the lights changed, i've emailed him for more photos and details of service and number of owners.

Badges and lights can easily be changed, but the damage done by the car being owned by some knuckle dragging ape can't.

Of course, the owner could be lovely man and a proper car enthusiast who has loved and cherished the car from the moment he got it, but being the snob that I am - Smoked lights + fake badges + XBOX install = Chav.

Good luck with it either way.

I've seen a few e38's with V8 badges, was it an option or some sort of extra BMW offered or something maybe? V8 badge from Halfrauds = very worrying on this sort of car, someone who has paid BMW £30 to put it on when having a service or something = no very worried and just a bit of a silly billy.

None of the additional badging on that car is factory or anything like it. The engine config badges on an E38 went on the rear wing, and IIRC only said 'V12'.

In my quest for another e38, I have noticed that car - or one just like it! - more than once, from apparently different sellers.

May be a genuine reason for this, but it put me off.

And those badges.....:p

I don't know where you get the patience from when looking for cars, if I decide I want a car and I can afford it ...I have to make it happen within weeks at the most. Patience is no doubt a virtue though when it comes to getting the right car though ...I just struggle with it.

I know what you mean.
I'm going to have to be patient now because I don't know what I want.
And now that I'm no longer freelance, I don't have the time during the week to go and look at things, so it's only one day a week now for test drives, etc.. :(

However, being patient usually means less chance of buying a lemon :o

Plus with these cars the right colour combo and spec is important, I won't just buy any old e38 or e39, with them being old sifting through the crap takes time, then you find a nice one like this Imola red one but in all fairness given the slight barried nature does seem one to steer clear of.

But on the other hand, maybe he's an enthusiast and therefore has taken very good care of it, and it has been serviced to perfection.

The only way is to look at it. I'd probably wait for another one to come along tbh rather than faff with the lights, etc.
That, and I'd want metallic paint :p

I guess I have that luxury of not needing to replace my e36 - its a hack and treated thus, but its reliable and showing not too many signs of impending death...

Ultimately, having owned a good e38 previously - and found how expensive they are to run properly - I'm taking my time looking for another.

Its been quite an experience, but I am learning.

Taking your time can work against you, I missed a very nice 02 (!) Plated e38 recently, I was not totally convinced by its 68k miles, by the time I had made enquiries with the supplying / servicing dealer, it had sold..... :(

I'll probably end up with something completely different though....

Story of my life that is.

Try a Jag, you might just like em :p

...I had to try eh!

I may well yet... The trouble - for me - is headroom, I'm 6'3" and I find I have next to no headroom in the XJ for example. In the e38, this was never an issue.

Im 6'3 you will have no problem with headroom.

Maybe in the back, but not the front, the seats go right down.
