nice restaurant in or around edinburgh

may have left this a tad late with the booking but...

going to Edinburgh for the weekend and wanting to go to a nice place were the chef actually cares about what he is cooking. never really been to any were that actually cares about serving good food.

maybe a Michelin star restaurant.

anyonethat can reccomend anywhere good?

The Witchery. It's the obvious choice and although a bit of an Edinburgh legend, it's still a brilliant place to eat.

Not sure on Michelin star grades but I love going to

Hannams Food in there is always amazing.

Also the Turkish Kitchen is amazing and not to silly priced

Don't waste your money on high end restaurants, go to the Chinese All you can eat buffet across from Harvey Nicholls

Aye or Jimmy Chungs right up from the railway station, I like the Dundee one better but it's still good.

Isn't there somewhere meant to be good called the Kitchin or something? I think it's around leith way, never been but he is now a "celebrity" chef.

We liked tiger lillys, not a top class place but the food was very good and cheap, the bar was full of gorgeous women!

Depending upon what type of food you like, here's some recommendations:

Vegetarian - Bann's, St Marys Street
Mexican - Viva Mexico, Cockburn Street
Steak - The Witchery, Royal Mile
Italian - Bar Roma, Queensferry Street
Indian - Suruchi, Nicholson Street

There is a Surf and turf place been to a few times in Grassmarket, not far from Apex Hotel overlooking hte catle which is really good.

Got to say I discovered this restauraunt the other week and it really is fantastic. I think the amount of chinese people that eat there is a pretty good indication of how good it is.

Theres never been a buffet there when I've been there in the evening though.
